Real Madrid are likely to complete the signing of their long-standing target Kylian Mbappe this summer but this could pose a problem for one of their key player Rodrygo Goes, reported Mundo Deportivo (MD).
Rodrygo was signed by Madrid in 2019 and he was soon integrated into the first team where he became an important player in no time and started donning the right wing.
He is a regular starter for Carlo Ancelotti’s side and often takes the field as a right-winger and sometimes as a centre forward when the Italian uses a 4-4-2 formation.
However, the arrival of Mbappe is likely to cause problems for Rodrygo as MD reported that the Frenchman will replace the Brazilian which will ultimately open the doors for the 23-year-old.
Mbappe’s arrival would mean that Madrid will have Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, Endrick and possibly Joselu Mato as their attacking options for the next season. While this has been their president Florentino Perez’s dream, it is likely to cause headaches for Ancelotti.
However, despite all the reports, Madrid selling Rodrygo is nearly impossible as the Brazilian is rated highly by Perez and Ancelotti likes him too. Furthermore, he has created a dynamic attack alongside Vinicius and Bellingham and is considered one of the most important players of the squad.
Remember, Earlier, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reported Mbappe has informed PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision but the terms of the departure are yet to be fully agreed upon. Both parties will communicate together about the latter's exit in the upcoming months.
Even though they have not been able to sign the 25-year-old for the last six years, the saga is likely to meet its conclusion and Madrid’s president Florentino Perez’s dream of forming an attack consisting of Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Bellingham may finally come true.
Remember, Madrid have been trying to sign Mbappe since his AS Monaco days in 2017-18 but the player decided to join PSG on a €180 million deal.
The deal was likely to happen last summer after the 25-year-old sent a letter to the French club saying that he would not extend his contract till 2025.
